Written by Politics is a dirty business. Everyone knows that. It is full of power hungry control freaks who care nothing about transparency, accountability, honesty or principle. They don’t want to see government shrink because that would mean their power shrinks. If that’s the case, why do we hear so often so many politicians speak about such things as if they have these admirable traits when the opposite is true? Politicians are notorious for lying, flip flopping, hypocrisy and breaking promises. There are an extreme number of powerful people who are anything but admirable. In fact, many of them would be considered despicable if not for the fact that for some reason or another we as a society seem to excuse people in politics for acting in such a fashion. Ron Paul, Racism and Conspiracy Theorists
The Ron Paul campaign must really be doing something right. The corporate owned mainstream media is really attacking him with all guns blazing. They dredge up the fear card and accuse him of being a racist. They spin his words and try to frame the argument in a way that, in my opinion, is very dishonest to say the least. Some would call these corporate shills outright liars, but in their minds they’re just trying to push the propaganda that will get their guy elected so their corporate masters can maintain their power. The problem for them is that the masses of humanity aren’t as dumb as they seem to believe. The people on catching on to their little game. There’s a world of difference between the way they treat Ron Paul who WILL follow through on his campaign promises to restore personal freedoms as best he can (judging from his political consistency and voting record), and the way they treated Barrack Obama who made promises that sounded good and somewhat Ron Paulish but were never meant to be kept. Ron Paul is finally getting the attention he has deserved for so long. The mainstream corporate media is finally relenting, although grudgingly, to the pressure applied by virtue of Dr. Paul’s rising popularity and his unwavering principles. His message of liberty is finally beginning to sink into the minds of the sheeple. It has taken a long time because our society has grown up around sound bites of a few seconds or less. It becomes difficult to explain complicated solutions in less than a minute, let alone only a few seconds. Viewing the Santa Claus Mentality
It’s been several weeks since I’ve last posted an opinion article. Please forgive me, but I’ve been very busy lately. I’ve actually found some work that pays me and I’ve been taking care of that rather than writing which hasn’t been paying the rent for me. I do enjoy eating. One of my jobs is being a guinea pig in a research study. The other day, while waiting for them to poke, prod or stick me, I was watching daytime TV, something I hardly ever do. I was watching a show called “The View” which involves several famous lady television personalities discussing “issues” of the day. They started talking about Barack Obama’s accomplishments and said some things that really struck me as not very well thought out, to put it politely. Others may admit to the existence of such conspiracies, but would claim there was nothing that can be done to stop them. Still others would not only admit to the conspiratorial nature of those at the top, they would explore methods to thwart such plans and prevent humankind from re-entering a feudal serf system. No, I’m not claiming that Herman Cain is the Antichrist, though I’m sure that there are many others who will. I will say, however, that I’m scratching my head wondering how he got so popular promoting such a lame tax scheme. Are there really that many people who will fall for such a propagandistic gimmick? Are there really that many people who don’t know how taxes work? Are there really that many people that don’t understand that this is a tax increase for everyone? My guess is that the media is exaggerating Mr. Cain’s popularity just as they are understating Dr. Paul’s. Feds demand 25 more bundles of Indian wood from Gibson Guitars
(NaturalNews) The federal government simply will not leave Gibson Guitars alone. According to a recent report in the Nashville Business Journal, federal authorities have now demanded that Gibson hand over 25 more bundles of legally-obtained Indian wood on top of the several others it already confiscated during a massive raid back in August (http://www.naturalnews.com/033454_G…).
Like practically every single other guitar company in the world, Gibson imports a special type of wood known as Madagascar rosewood, as well as ebony, to produce its fretboards. Gibson has long obtained this wood legally from India and other places where it is grown, and has never knowingly violated any laws in producing its guitars which, unlike many other guitar brands, are still produced in the US.
But federal agents, acting on behalf of their own subjective interpretation of Indian law (which is not their job to enforce, by the way, especially when the Indian government has viewed the actions as legal), decided to target Gibson for the second time in two years, even though the company has not violated any US laws. Federal authorities claim that Gibson’s wood and ebony imports violate the Lacey Act of 2008, but both the US and Indian governments have long allowed the materials to be imported and exported without issue.

There’s been a lot of talk lately coming from the federal government about creating jobs. There’s been congressional hearings on the subject. This is a subject near and dear to my heart. What’s it been, ten, eleven, twelve years since this economic downturn started? Four or five years into this current depression? It’s hard to tell how long it’s been since government and their lapdog corporate media sources like to obfuscate and manipulate economic statistics and realities so much. Well, I’ve been out of a good paying job for two and a half years now, so for me at least that’s how long the depression has lasted. Family and United Airlines Settle Last 9/11 Wrongful-Death Lawsuit
The last remaining wrongful-death lawsuit stemming from the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks has been resolved, according to a lawyer for the victim’s family and court papers filed on Monday.
The settlement brings to an end a wrenching legal battle in Federal District Court in Manhattan, where lawsuits had been filed on behalf of 85 people who were killed in the attacks and an additional 11 who were injured, court records show.
All of those lawsuits had since been resolved, except one: a suit involving the death of Mark Bavis, a 31-year-old hockey scout who was aboard United Airlines Flight 175, the second plane to hit the World Trade Center.
Family members had long resisted a settlement in the case, which was filed in 2002, saying they wanted to hold the defendants publicly accountable at trial for what the family and its lawyers contended was gross negligence that allowed five terrorists to board Flight 175.
But that public accountability was largely achieved on Friday, said a lawyer for the family, Donald A. Migliori, when the lawyers were able to file a detailed compendium of their evidence in response to a defense motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
Obama looks to raise $600 billion by cutting corporate subsidies, raising taxes
The White House announced today that it is seeking to raise $600 billion in revenue through new taxes and the elimination of corporate subsidies as part of a deal to lower the deficit and raise the debt ceiling.
President Barack Obama is trying to ensure that any spending cuts agreed to are also offset by tax increases — something Republicans have said they will oppose at all costs.
White House Spokesman Jay Carney echoed the calls of many Democratic legislators, saying any deal must include tax hikes or the elimination of subsidies, setting the stage for a showdown with Republicans over the next five weeks.
“It’s the only way to get it done,” he said.

Free Market Misconceptions in the Blogosphere
I was perusing some blogs the other day when I came upon a comment that struck a nerve in me. It was a comment that I think is indicative of the attitudes of some people who tend to believe in the left side of the political spectrum. I believe these are mostly goodhearted, well intentioned people, but I also believe they have been misinformed about what a free market is and what it is not. The comment, to paraphrase, basically blamed the free market for the financial mess we find ourselves in. I was compelled to reply to the comment and felt it might be appropriate to elaborate on my thoughts and share them with everyone. I think that, after all, words are important tools when it comes to communicating ideas with people and when definitions become skewed and screwy communications can become muddled. The corporate controlled, establishment mass media would still have you believe that Ron Paul is some crazy fringe candidate. They still insist that he is unelectable despite his 3rd place finish in Iowa (one wonders how Santorum got so many votes there) and his second place finish in New Hampshire, and polls that have him doing very well against Obama. This despite the fact that the Republican Party leadership seem embarrassed by his presence and want to keep voters away from him more than the Dursleys wanted to keep Harry Potter away from their muggle relatives. When even those who count the votes have to admit to so many flocking to the eccentric family uncle one starts to wonder if maybe he has a real chance of gaining the Republican nod. It is, after all, a matter of numbers and if there is overwhelming support then even the most corrupt organization starts to worry about being too obvious with their cheating and fixing of elections.
