I have stated before that I am happy to see the “Occupy Wall Street” movement moving forward and turning into something bigger. I am happy to see it gain momentum and migrate to other areas. The American people, like people all over the world, are angry with the ruling classes and are voicing their discontent. Whether the oligarchs have planned and/or financed the populist movements that have popped up lately I don’t know, but it seems to me that it would be prudent for them to try to infiltrate such movements and obtain leadership positions so that they can steer them in directions they want them to go. No, I’m not claiming that Herman Cain is the Antichrist, though I’m sure that there are many others who will. I will say, however, that I’m scratching my head wondering how he got so popular promoting such a lame tax scheme. Are there really that many people who will fall for such a propagandistic gimmick? Are there really that many people who don’t know how taxes work? Are there really that many people that don’t understand that this is a tax increase for everyone? My guess is that the media is exaggerating Mr. Cain’s popularity just as they are understating Dr. Paul’s. I think the establishment is running scared at Ron Paul’s popularity and so they commanded their corporate media lackeys to promote this guy as the next great messiah or some such thing. READ MORE »

With all that’s going on in the world today I thought it might be interesting to take a step back and consider the question “How did we get here?” I know that at times it might seem like I harp on the subject, but I believe it is an important one. Sometimes, we don’t know how far back into antiquity some ideas go. Often times I am surprised when I find out just how long ago certain knowledge was gained. It seems to me that there is not only truth to the saying that he who doesn’t know history is doomed to repeat it, but I think that perhaps those who know history can manipulate those who don’t and profit from their knowledge coupled with others’ ignorance. I was very excited to hear about occupy Wall Street. This really seemed to me to be the kind of thing we needed. At least here we would see peaceful protestors making demands that should be made. At least here we would see the grassroots taking matters into their own hands. This sounded like the kind of movement that could make a difference. Somehow, however, I managed to remain uninformed on what was going on with it. It was more than just the blackout by the corporate mainstream media that caused this, it was my ignorance toward looking it up for myself. US taxpayers could be on hook for Europe bailout

The U.S. is coming to Europe’s financial rescue.

So far, America’s role is fairly limited. But if the crisis continues to grow and the U.S. takes on a wider role, U.S. consumers and taxpayers could feel a bigger impact. The biggest exposure could come from America’s status as the single largest source of money for the International Monetary Fund.

The latest round of American financial assistance came Thursday with a promise by the Federal Reserve to swap as many dollars for euros as European bankers need. In the short run, those transactions won’t have much impact because the central banks are simply swapping currencies of equal value. If the move helps avert a wider crisis, it could help spare the global economy from another recession.

But over the long term, consumers could feel the impact of central bankers flooding the financial system with cash, according to John Ryding, chief economist at RDQ Economics.

“This is a lender of last resort function,” he told CNBC. “With the dollar injections that the Fed has done, it’s like giving a patient medicine with really bad side effects.”  Ryding said the bad side effect in the U.S. has been inflation, which has picked up to 3.8 percent year over year.

It is no secret that I am a huge Ron Paul supporter. I wrote quite a few write ups supporting his candidacy during the 2008 campaign. I wrote so much, in fact, that it becomes difficult to say anything that hasn’t already been said. That’s no big deal. There are many things in life that are worth repeating. Ron Paul is the rarest of politicians. He is the embodiment of honesty, integrity and principle. Most people like him would have just given up long ago on the political process and returned to their normal lives where they wouldn’t have to deal with so much filth and corruption. Dr. Paul has hung in there since 1976 when he first entered politics in hopes that he could change for the better the way things are run in Washington, DC. He has done so despite the ostracism and derision of his colleagues and their cronies. It seems that someone wants you to think that adding more debt to the already over burdened national line of credit is a good thing. It seems that someone wants you to believe that an economic crisis has been averted, not merely postponed and eventually made worse. It seems that someone wants you to move on placidly with your life, not think about the struggling economy, or the growing unemployment, or the dollar losing its value, and just accept that the Federal Reserve and their bought and paid for politicians are just going to do as they please no matter what you might think. Did you watch the show? It was the latest reality show, complete with drama, unexpected twists and all kinds of different personalities clashing with one another. Like all reality shows, it was not really an improvised and unplanned series of events, but was mostly scripted and had a predictable outcome. In fact, the outcome was predicted by many who were paying attention. I am talking, of course, about the show that congress was putting on to try to make the public believe they care about shrinking government and convince the masses they are doing something to alleviate the debt. One of my first childhood memories involves watching the TV show Batman. This wasn’t like the sophisticated, high budget, special effects filled modern movies of today, it was a low budget attempt to turn live actors into cartoons starring Adam West and Burt Ward. I used to love Batman and Robin. I’d come home after school and watch with my best friend and neighbor and then we’d pretend that we were Batman and Robin. Of course I didn’t understand at the time the dangers of propaganda because I was so young. I mean, Batman and Robin seemed harmless enough. I didn’t know that watching could lead to superhero abuse. Holding Bernanke Accountable

On Wednesday at 2:15 p.m., Ben Bernanke will do something that previous Federal Reserve chairmen considered a terrible idea. He will hold a news conference.

Mr. Bernanke spent much of his academic career arguing that the Fed should be less opaque, and, as chairman, he has put his ideas into action. Now it’s time for those of us in the media to hold up our end of bargain. In the spirit of democratic accountability, we should ask hard questions — and we shouldn’t let him get away with the evasions and half-answers that members of Congress too often allow Fed chairmen during their appearances on Capitol Hill.

One question more than any than other is crying out for an answer: Why has Mr. Bernanke decided to accept widespread unemployment for years on end, even though he believes he has the power to reduce it?

Back in 2008 a candidate named Barack Obama ran for president of the United States of America. He ran on a platform of hope and change. Basically, he was sold to the American people as an agent of change who would reverse the war mongering, Bill of Rights shredding policies of the Bush administration. As a result, not only was he catapulted into office, but both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate held onto and increased their Democrat majority. The message sent by the American people was clear. They were sick of war, they were tired of policies that trampled on their rights, they’d had enough of big government, and they wanted to reestablish transparency and accountability in the federal government. I remained skeptical at the time and felt the Obama administration would bring none of the change he intimated he would and the best we could hope for would be that government would not increase.
