When the Constitution was written way back when, it was supposed to be a blueprint for keeping government tyranny off the backs of the common folk. Part of the way this was supposed to be accomplished was division of power. The federal government was to be divided into three branches of equal power. This was supposed to provide checks and balances so that one branch or another could not become tyrannical and force its will onto the common folk. In addition, those three branches themselves were to be divided so that power would be shared inside the branches of government, supposedly making it even less likely for tyranny to gain a foothold. For various reasons, this idea failed, sort of, yet there is hope that people can peacefully force the federal government to once again respect the natural rights individuals are born with. The Murders in Arizona and Attacks on Freedom
Yet another nut job has decided to take his frustrations out on innocent people. This time one Jared Loughner managed to kill six people and wound thirteen others. The dead include a child, 9 year old Christina Green. Also dead are John Roll, Gabriel Zimmerman, Dorwin Stoddard, Dorthy Murray and Phyllis Scheck. This is a senseless act of violence that should be completely condemned. Jared Loughner needs to be brought to justice and severely punished. I can’t imagine any reason that could be given to excuse such abhorrent behavior. READ MORE »
Passing Health Care Legislation is Not the End
We hear time and again how great democracy is, yet our politicians time and again refuse to listen to the majority. Not to mention, they manipulate facts and propagandize truth in order to try to spin public opinion in favor of their position. Does anyone really think that this legislation is meant to help the poor and the uninsured? If so, than that person does not understand history and has forgotten even recent events that have provided us with huge government boondoggles which have benefited no one except the already powerful elite. This legislation helps the banks and corporate insurance companies, guaranteed. These people couldn’t care less about you. They see themselves as smarter, better and more deserving than you, and that’s why they live above the law and feel they can dictate to you how to live regardless of what you think. READ MORE »
J Patrick Bedell, More Blowback?
A thirty six year old man decided to commit suicide on March 4th, 2010. His name was John Patrick Bedell. Perhaps he didn’t make that decision consciously, no one can be certain what he was thinking as he acted out the last moments of his life, but regardless his death was the inevitable outcome of the actions he decided to take that day. From what I’ve heard, he had a history of mental illness. His actions certainly bore that out. It doesn’t take an Einstein to realize this man was disturbed. Still, exactly why he decided to take the actions he did, exactly why he decided to embark on a suicide mission in which he takes on the much more powerful forces of the US military complex will likely remain a mystery. Why the Treasonous Patriot Act Was Renewed
I have a friend and former coworker who is completely enamored and has total faith in Mr. Barack Obama and the Democrat party. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. The guy is a complete sports nut, knowing more about the stats of former and present baseball and football players than he knows about anything else. It’s not a bad thing, I guess, – if I ever want to know anything about sports I know who to ask – but it seems to me that there’s far more important things in life to familiarize yourself with than with such trivia. Perhaps it’s because he is so engaged with the sports mentality that he can’t get away from the team aspect. He sees all life as two teams battling each other and trying to win a game. He has picked the political team he cheers for and has problems understanding that both teams are the same and the players can chose when they want to switch teams. As far as he’s concerned, as long as a guy on his team is in office, his team is winning. READ MORE »
Joe Stack, Example of Blowback?
I just learned of a story where a man, Joe Stack, flew an airplane into a building in Austin, Tx. I first wish to express my concern and heartfelt condolences to any victims and their families who may have suffered as a result of this man’s desperate act. It’s a shame when anyone suffers through no fault of their own. READ MORE »
Escalate The Peace!
In the great tradition of student protest, we will come together on Jan. 28 on Texas State’s campus to speak out against the criminal military actions of the United States government. With the recent escalation of the war in Afghanistan, the expansion into Pakistan and Yemen, and the continued occupation of Iraq, it is time to hold our leaders accountable. This day marks an opportunity to come together to discuss, to network, and to celebrate peace and resistance. As students, teachers, peace veterans, and musicians, we will make our voices heard against war. Not in our name!
Everyone is welcome. Spread the word.

Architect to Speak in D.C. on 9/11 World Trade Center Destruction
Professional group to present evidence to Congress
BERKELEY, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17, the nonprofit group DC911Truth will bring San Francisco Bay Area architect Richard Gage, AIA, to Washington, D.C., for a series of public events and meetings with congressional representatives. Gage represents more than 700 architects and engineers who cite evidence for explosive demolition as the cause of the destruction of the three World Trade Center towers on 9/11. After careful examination of forensic data inconsistent with the official account, these professionals are calling for a new, independent investigation into the 9/11 attacks.
A practicing architect for more than 20 years, Gage is the founder of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth (AE911Truth). Comprised of more than 4,500 total petition signers, members, architects, engineers, physicists and scientists, the organization contends at its Web site, AE911Truth.org, that the official FEMA and NIST reports fail to explain the towers’ destruction. The group’s evidence includes the admitted free-fall of Building 7, the constancy of the acceleration of the North Tower, and nanothermite residues in the WTC dust. See AE911truth.org for details.

Muslims of world honor Int’l Quds Day
Millions of people around the world have held massive rallies on the International Quds Day in support of Palestinian people’s rights.
Demonstrations are underway in different countries, including Iran, Iraq, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Persian Gulf states, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and the city of al Quds (Jerusalem).
International Quds Day, an initiative of the late Founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, is observed in all Islamic nations. Demonstrations by Muslims and concerned individuals worldwide show support for the Palestinian people suffering under occupation and hardship.
Quds Day is held on the fourth Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan every year.
People in several other countries also honored the occasion.
Millions of Iranians took to streets throughout the country to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Organic Underground presents: “My Name Is Rachel Corrie”
On March 16, 2003, Rachel Corrie, a twenty-three-year-old American, was crushed to death by an Israeli Army bulldozer in Gaza as she was trying to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian home.
MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE is a one-woman play composed from Rachel’s own journals, letters and emails—creating a portrait of a messy, articulate, Salvador Dali–loving chain-smoker (with a passion for the music of Pat Benatar), who left her home and school in Olympia, Washington, to work as an activist in the heart of Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In the three sold-out London runs since its Royal Court premiere, the piece has been surrounded by both controversy and impassioned proponents, and has raised an unprecedented call to support political work and the difficult discourse it creates.
This will be the Organic Underground’s premier attempt to bring political theatre to Belleville…

Did you watch the show? It was the latest reality show, complete with drama, unexpected twists and all kinds of different personalities clashing with one another. Like all reality shows, it was not really an improvised and unplanned series of events, but was mostly scripted and had a predictable outcome. In fact, the outcome was predicted by many who were paying attention. I am talking, of course, about the show that congress was putting on to try to make the public believe they care about shrinking government and convince the masses they are doing something to alleviate the debt. The saddest part of this reality show is that it actually affects each and every one of us with very real consequences for their actions. READ MORE »
